Sunday the 17^th of Feb 2008 I (Grace Steinmetz) was at touch rugby trials in Paraparaumu. Touch started at 11.00pm and about 10 minutes later I was subbing off. I gave my coach (Bish) a “hi five” apparently something went “BANG”. Bish said, “gosh Grace you gave me a huge electric shock”

We looked up in the sky and we saw a helicopter and a small plane collide. Bits of the plane/helicopter were falling to pieces the helicopter went nose diving into place makers in the wood section. The plane crashed into denise tayla court and two teenagers from Kapiti College were practicing how to be a pilot but they were in the collision. The pilot was badly injured but late last night he past away in Wellington hospital. The pilot had to leave his 3 month old baby at home and the pilot was getting married in 1 month.
